1998 COROLLA(U) Part 1 Fuel gauge OPERATION OF The gauge works when the ignition switch is on and indicates the approxi- INSTRUMENTS mate quantity of fuel remaining in the tank. AND CONTROLS— Nearly full—Needle at ”F” Nearly empty—Needle at ”E” Chapter 1−5 It is a good idea to keep the tank over Gauges, Meters and 1/4 full. This fuel gauge has a n−orenturn type Service reminder needle which remains at the last indicated indicators position when the ignition switch is turned off. Fuel gauge Type A If the fuel level approaches ”E” or the low fuel level warning light comes on, fill the Engine coolant temperature fuel tank as soon as possible. gauge On inclines or curves, due to the move- Tachometer ment of fuel in the tank, the fuel gauge needle may fluctuate or the low fuel level Odometer and two trip meters warning light may come on earlier than Thermometer usual. If the fuel tank is completely empty, the Service reminder indicators and malfunction indicator lamp comes on. Fill warning buzzers the fuel tank immediately. The indicator lamp goes off after driving several times. If the indicator lamp does not go off, contact your Toyota dealer as soon as possible. Type B 75
