Fig. 335 In the rear hatch: Removing the bulb holder on taillights without LED technology (Variant A) and on taillights with LED technology (Variant B). ¤ Please first read and note the introductory information and heed the WARNINGS The following instructions only apply to vehicles with halogen bulbs. You cannot replace the LEDs in LED taillights. Contact your authorized Volkswagen dealer or authorized Volkswagen Service Facility for assistance. Please carry out each step only in the order specified: ⇒ fig. 335 Variant A Variant B 1. Please review and follow the checklist. 2. Open the rear hatch 3. Insert the flat blade of the screwdriver from the vehicle tool kit into the slot and carefully pry the cover off ⇒ fig. 334 (1). 4. Push the locking tab in the directioRon otfa te the bulb holder counterclockwise the arrow and remove the bulb holder. (about 1/8 turn) to release bulb holder. 5. Pull the light bulb straight out of the bulb base. 6. Replace the burned out light bulb with a new bulb of the same type. 7. Re-insert the bulb holder in the tailliReght- insert the bulb holder assembly into assembly. The locking tabs must latch the taillight assembly and turn clockwise with an audible click. (about 1/8 turn). 8. Athe covettr. ac(1h) The cover must latch tightly and securely into place. LEDs in the rear lights Replacing LEDs is not possible without dismantling vehicle components. Contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer or an authorized Volkswagen Service Facility. Taillights with LEDs may also have some “standard” light bulbs. These bulbs can be replaced. NOTICE Different models may have different lights, and the location and design of covers, bulb holders, and bulbs may be in a different location than shown in the illustrations.
