(I) Unscrew screws@ and nuts with washers@ securing cover@ and remove cover with relevant gasket. (2) Remove front oil retaining ring @ from cover by lever with a screwdriver. Replace ring at assembly. 1 Screw 3 Screw 1 Screws 2 Screws 2 Guard 4 Front support 22. Remove oil sump. 19. Remove pulleys from crank- shaft. (1) Unscrew screws with wash- 0 securing oil sump to block. (1) Unscrew nut0. ers 1 (2) Remove oil sump and relevant (2) Sequentially remove washer@ seal gasket. and spacer0, water pump a.nd (3) If required remove sealant marks alternator driving pulley@, right on sump and block. head camshaft drive toothedpul- ley 0, spacer@, left head cam- 1 Screws 3 Block front cover shaft drive toothed pulley@ and 2 Nuts 4 Oil retaining ring pilot belt washer@. 25. Remove pistons and connecting rods. (1) Fit to flywheel a tool which allows crankshaft rotation. 1 Screws 2 Oil sump I Nut 5 Toothed pulley 2 Washer 6 Spacer 23. Remove oil sump assembly. 3 Spacer 7 Toothedpulley 4 Pulley 8 Washer (1) Unscrew screws with wash- ers 10 securing oil pump@ to block rear cover. 20. Remove flywheel locking tool, previously fitted. 21. Remove cylinder heads. (1) Unscrew screws@ fixingCOV- ers 2 to camshaft supports; remove 0 covers with relevant gaskets. (2) Turn crankshaft to permit access to screws securing connecting rod caps. (3) Unscrew and remove screws@ and connecting rod caps0. 1 Screws 2 Cover 1 Screws 2 Oil pump 01-15 May 1983
