Tongue load MAXIMUM GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT
GUID-39072C53-540E-4796-930C-B4AF968410E5(GVW)/MAXIMUM GROSS AXLE
When using a weight carrying or a weight WEIGHT (GAW)
distributing hitch, keep the tongue load between GUID-C10855A3-37B1-448F-9F63-A367F3E6ECA4
10 to 15% of the total trailer load within the TheGVWofthetowingvehiclemustnotexceed
maximum tongue load limits shown in the the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
following “Towing Load/Specification” chart. If shownontheF.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S. certification
the tongue load becomes excessive, rearrange label. The GVW equals the combined weight of
cargo to allow for proper tongue load. the unloaded vehicle, passengers, luggage,
hitch, trailer tongue load and any other optional
equipment. In addition, front or rear GAW must
not exceed the Gross Axle Weight Rating
(GAWR) shown on the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S.
certification label.
Towing capacities are calculated assuming a
base vehicle with driver and any options
