Folding the backrest of the rear bench forward and back into place Fig. 101 Lower part of the rear seat bench: Lever to unlock the rear seat backrest by hand. Fig. 102 Right side wall of the luggage compartment: Buttons for power release of the rear seat backrest. ¤ Please first read and note the introductory information and heed the WARNINGS The rear seat backrest is divided into 2 sections. Each section of the rear seat backrest can be folded down individually to increase luggage space. There are power release buttons for the rear seat backrests in the luggage compartment ⇒ fig. 102. (1) Release button for trihgeh t-hand backrest section. (2) Release button for tleheft- hand backrest section. Folding the rear seat backrest forward Before folding down the rear seat backrest, push its head restraint(s) all the way down and slide the seat itself backwards as far as it will go ⇒ Adjusting the seating position. x Release the rear seat backrest by hand using the lever underneath the seat or the power buttons in the luggage compartment . The rear seat backrest then folds forward by itself. x Move the rear seat backrest the rest of the way down by hand and push down on it until it locks into place. x If the rear backrest is folded down, no one, including children, may ride on the rear seat. Folding the rear backrest back into place x Release the rear seat backrest by hand using the lever underneath the seat or the power buttons in the luggage compartment . The rear seat will unlatch and spring up slightly. x Fold the rear seat backrest back up and push it securely into its latches, making sure it locks securely into place ⇒ . The seat release lever must return to its original position. x The rear backrest must be securely latched into place for the safety belts on the rear seats to provide optimal protection.
