The Chrysler 300 was designed as a modern interpretation of the Chrysler C-300 (and later the Chrysler series), with a large grille, a long hood and a low roofline that was visible in these vehicles. The styling has retained many of the Chrysler Chronos concept car from 1998, such as the chrome accents and trim on the steering wheel and shift knob. The Chrysler 300 is based on the Chrysler LX with rear-wheel drive and components from the W211 Mercedes-Benz E-Class from 2003 to 2009. The common parts include the rear suspension, front seat frame, wiring harness, steering column, 5-speed automatic 4Matic transmission and derivative of all-wheel drive. The latest version of the 300C uses 5.7 l (345 inches) Hemi V8. Using the Multidisplacement (MDS) system, this engine can operate on four cylinders when less power is needed to reduce total fuel consumption. USEPA fuel consumption in the 300C model is: 15 miles per gallon US (16 L / 100 km, 18 mpg-imp) city and 23 miles on the US gallon highway (10 L / 100 km, 28 mpg-imp). When all eight cylinders are needed, 300C can reach 340 hp (250 kW) and 390 Nm (590 Nm) of torque. It uses a five-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, the MyGIG Chrysler Infotainment system in 2008, and the SIRIUS satellite radio and rear-seat TVs in 2008. The HEMI motor comprises a push rod induction pipe mounted on the side of the engine block. This tube makes the 300C more economical and faster because the air is "drawn in and pushed" into the motor induction zone. The motor uses a HEMI configuration or a double wishbone configuration with a cam follower in the aeration valve (OHV). There are two spark plugs per cylinder to promote efficient combustion of the fuel-air mixture, and thus reduce emissions. In 2009-2010, the output power was increased to 360 hp. Chrysler 300C SRT-8 The SRT-8 is equipped with a 6.1-liter Hemi engine that produces 425 hp at 6200 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. SRT8 can hit 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
