The B8 (Type 8K) is the fourth series of the mid-size vehicle Audi A4. From December 2007, he was initially delivered as a notchback sedan. End of February 2008, the combination variant (Avant) was officially presented on the Internet and presented in March at the Geneva Motor Show to the public. The B8 is based on the new platform concept "Modular Longitudinal Construction Kit", on which the Audi A5 is already being built and all future models in the Volkswagen Group will be based on a longitudinal engine. An open A4, however, is no longer offered, since this position since spring 2009, the A5 convertible takes over. In November 2011, the A4 series received a facelift, which included both a technical and visual revision. The B8 series is manufactured at five production sites. While the saloon, the Avant and the S / RS / Allroad models are rolling off the production line at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt, only the saloon is being built in Neckarsulm. In Aurangabad, CKD A4 saloon kits delivered from Neckarsulm are assembled and delivered on the grounds of a Škoda factory. In China, the long version of the A4L saloon will be produced for the Chinese market at FAW-Volkswagen in Changchun. Since 2011, prefabricated A4 saloon kits have been assembled at Garuda Mataram Motor in Jakarta, Indonesia. Comparable competition vehicles of the A4 are beside the BMW 3er and the Mercedes C-class, also the Infiniti Q50, Citroën DS5 and Cadillac ATS.
