2-1. Driving procedures Starting on a steep uphill The hill-start assist control (→P. 166) operates to help reduce the dis- tance that the vehicle rolls backward when starting on an incline. How- ever, under certain conditions hill-start assist control may not work. In that case, follow the procedure below. STEP 1 Make sure that the parking brake is set and select 1st gear. STEP 2 Gently depress the accelerator pedal.2 STEP 3 Release the parking brake.
