Unlocking and opening with the vehicle key x Press and hold theq button on the remote control vehicle key ⇒ fig. 29 A to unlatch and automatically open the luggage compartment lid. Unlocking and opening with the unlock switch in the driver door Pull up the q switch on the driver door B until the luggage compartment lid opens automatically. The switch in the driver door also works when the ignition is switched off. Unlocking and opening with the sensor-controlled luggage compartment lid opener (Easy Open) If your vehicle has Keyless Access, it may also be equipped with the Easy Open feature. With Easy Open, the luggage compartment lid can be opened with a motion sensor in the area below the rear bumper, Unlocking or locking the vehicle with Keyless Access. Opening with the Volkswagen emblem x Unlock the vehicle or the luggage compartment lid, or open a door. x Using your thumb, press the top of the Volkswagen emblem⇒ fig. 30 and move the top of the emblem down. The luggage compartment lid opens automatically. WARNING Improper or unsupervised unlocking or opening of the luggage compartment lid can cause severe injuries. Never open the luggage compartment lid when someone is in the way. x If a bicycle or luggage rack is installed on the luggage compartment lid, it may be hard to see that the luggage compartment lid is unlatched. An unlatched luggage compartment lid may open suddenly when the vehicle is moving. At temperatures below +32 °F (0 °C), the luggage compartment lid may not open automatically after you unlock it. It will be necessary to lift it by hand.
