Towing
TOWINGATRAILER WARNING!
It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that the vehicle and trailerOnly fit accessories that
are loaded and balanced so that the combination is stable when inhave been designed and
motion. approved by Land Rover.
Whenpreparingyourvehiclefor towing, pay careful attention to the
trailer manufacturer’s recommendations and also follow the
guidelines below: For Your Safety .
• Ensurethat the towing vehicle tyre pressures are correct andEnsure that the gross vehicle
that the trailer tyre pressures are as recommended by the trailerweight and maximum rear axle
manufacturer. weight are not exceeded.
• Checkthatthecorrecttrailerflasher unit is fitted to the fuse box
(consult your dealer) and check the operation of trailer brakes
and lights. Care Points .
• Formaximumstability,ensurethat loads are properly securedDONOTusetherearlashing
and unable to shift position during transit. Also, position loadseyes for towing purposes -
so that most of the weight is placed close to the floor and,serious damage to the vehicle
wherepossible, immediatelyabove or close to the trailer axle(s).mayresult.
• After loading the trailer, check that the weight on the hitch point
(this is called the draw-bar loading weight, or nose weight),
does not exceed 140 kg.
• Wheretheloadweightcanbedividedbetweentrailerand tow
vehicle, loading more weight into the vehicle will generally
improvethe stability of the combination.
• Thevehiclemaximumrearaxleweightandmaximumgrosstrain
weight (see ’Technical Data’) must not be exceeded, when the
trailer is attached and any passengers or luggage are in place
inside the vehicle.
For high trailer weights, this may require that passengers and/or
luggage be removed from the vehicle.
NOTE:Towingregulationsvaryfrom country to country. It is very
important to ensure that national regulations governing towing
weights and speed limits are observed (refer to the relevant national
motoring organisation for information). The maximum permissible
towed weights quoted in ’Technical Data’, refer to the vehicle’s
design limitations and NOT to any specific territorial restriction.
