Maintenance and Care Owner Maintenance Automatic Transaxle 4. With the engine still idling, pull out the Fluid (4-speed transaxle) dipstick, wipe it clean, and put it back. Pull it out 5. again. The proper ﬂ uid level is marked on the Inspecting Automatic Transaxle dipstick as follows. Fluid Level automatic The transaxle ﬂ uid level should be inspected regularly. Measure it as described below. volume The of ﬂ uid changes with temperature. Fluid must be checked while idling the engine without driving at normal Full operating temperature. A 1. Park on a level surface and set the Low Full B parking brake ﬁ rmly. Low 2. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal. hot scale A Fluid 3. Move the shift lever through all ranges and set it at P. When the vehicle has been driven and the ﬂ uid is at normal operating temperature, WARNING about 65°C (150°F), the level must be between Full and Low. Make sure the brake pedal is applied Fluid cold scale B before shifting the shift lever: When the engine has not been running Shifting the shift lever without and the outside temperature is about 20°C ﬁ rst depressing the brake pedal is (70°F), the level must be between Full and dangerous.
