Kia Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) bruker både en forbrenningsmotor og en elektrisk motor.Den elektriske motoren drives av et 27 0
V høyspent HEV-batteri.
Avhengig av kjøreforholdene veksler HEV-computeren mellom å bruke forbrenningsmotoren, elmotoren eller begge samtidig.
Drivstoffeffektiviteten forbedres når forbrenningsmotoren går på tomgang eller når bilen bare drives av elmotoren med HEV-bat-
teriet.
HEV-batteriet lades når forbrenningsmotoren fungerer som dynamo, f.eks. når bilen står stille på tomgang. Batteriet lades også
under fartsreduksjon og regenerativ bremsing.
