STARTINGANDOPERATING 389 Cooling System Towing — Four-Wheel Drive Models To reduce potential for engine and transmission over-The transfer case must be shifted into NEUTRAL for heating, take the following actions: recreational towing. The NEUTRAL selection button is − City Driving located at the top of the 4WD Control Switch. Shifts into Whenstoppedforshortperiodsoftime,puttransmissionand out of transfer case NEUTRAL can take place with in NEUTRALand increase engine idle speed.the selector switch in any mode position. − Highway Driving CAUTION! Reduce speed. − Air Conditioning • The transmission must be in PARK position for5 Turn off temporarily. recreational towing. Failure to follow these proce- dures can cause severe transmission and/or trans- RECREATIONALTOWING(BEHIND fer case damage. MOTORHOME,ETC.) • Internal damage to the transmission or transfer Towing – Two-Wheel Drive Models case will occur if a front or rear wheel lift is used when recreational towing. Recreational towing is allowed ONLY if the driveshaft (Continued) is removed. Towing with the rear wheels on the ground while the driveshaft is connected can result in severe transmission damage.
