UNDERSTANDINGYOURINSTRUMENTPANEL 321 Compass/Temperature Display NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with a Chrysler Uconnect®gps(NavigationRadio),theNAVsystemwill provide the compass direction, and the variance and calibration menus will be unavailable. The compass will perform accurately, based on GPS signals instead of the Earth’s magnetic field. 4 Compass Variance Compass Variance is the difference between Magnetic North and Geographic North. To compensate for the differences, the variance should be set for the zone whereCompass Variance Map the vehicle is driven, per the zone map. Once properly set, the compass will automatically compensate for the differ- ences and provide the most accurate compass heading.
