In Case of an Emergency
Flat Tire
2. Mount the tire. 4. Turn the jack handle counterclockwise
3. Install the lug nuts with the beveledand lower the vehicle. Use the lug
edge inward; tighten them by hand. wrench to tighten the nuts in the order
shown.
WARNING If you're unsure of how tight the nuts
Donotapplyoilorgreasetolugnuts should be, have them inspected at an
andbolts and do not tighten the lug Authorized Mazda Dealer.
nuts beyond the recommended Nuttightening torque
tightening torque: N·m(kgf·m,ft·lbf) 88―118
Applying oil or grease to lug nuts and (9―12,65―87)
bolts is dangerous. The lug nuts WARNING
could loosen while driving and cause
the tire to come off, resulting in anAlways securely and correctly tighten
accident. In addition, lug nuts andthe lug nuts:
bolts could be damaged if tightened Improperly or loosely tightened lug
morethannecessary. nuts are dangerous. The wheel could
wobbleor come off. This could result
in loss of vehicle control and cause a
serious accident.
Besure to reinstall the same nuts you
removedorreplacethemwithmetric
nuts of the same configuration:
Because the wheel studs and lug nuts
onyourMazdahavemetricthreads,
using a non-metric nut is dangerous.
Onametricstud,it would not secure
the wheel and would damage the
stud, which could cause the wheel to
slip off and cause an accident.
