WARNING Stale air causes driver fatigue and reduces alertness, which can cause accidents, collisions, and serious personal injury. x Never switch off the fan for a long time because no fresh air will enter the passenger com- partment. Heating and ventilation system controls Fig. 153 In the center console: Heating system controls. ¤ Please first read and note the introductory information and heed the WARNINGS Temperature The desired interior temperature cannot be lower than the outside air, because the heating and venti- lation system cannot cool or dehumidify the air. Heating Maximum heating output and fast defrosting will only be possible after the engine has reached operat- ing temperature. Settings for optimum visibility x Switch off the air recirculation⇒ Air recirculation. x Set the fan to the desired speed⇒ fig. 153 (2). x Turn the temperature knob to the center position(1 ). x Open all air vents in the instrument pane⇒ l Air vents. x Turn the air distribution knob(3 ) to the desired setting. Operation ¤ Please first read and note the introductory information and heed the WARNINGS The air conditioner works only when the ignition is switched on. The cooling system for the passenger compartment works only when the engine is running and the fan is on.
