BATTERY WARNING SYMBOLS BATTERY CARE
There is a label on the battery, depicting a WARNING
number of warning symbols. The warning Batteries contain acid, which is both
symbols are as follows: corrosive and poisonous. If spillage occurs:
No smoking, flames, no sparks • On clothing or the skin - remove any
(Red). contaminated clothing immediately,
LAN0579 flush the skin with large amounts of
water, and seek medical attention
Shield eyes (Blue). urgently.
• In the eyes - flush with clean water
LAN0580 immediately for at l east 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention urgently.
Keep away from children Swallowing battery acid can be fatal unless
LAN0581 (Red). immediate action is taken - seek medical
attention urgently.
Explosive gas (Yellow). Always wear eye protection when working
with batteries.
LAN0582 For your safety, remove all metal wrist bands
and jewellery before working in the engine
Battery acid (Yellow). compartment and never allow the battery
terminals or vehicle leads to make contact
LAN0583 with tools or metal parts of the vehicle.
Battery posts, terminals and related
accessories contain lead and lead
compounds. Wash hands after handling.
A low maintenance battery, specifically
designed for use with this ve hicle, is fitted in the
engine compartment.
In hot climates, more frequent checks of the
battery electrolyte level are required. If
necessary, the battery cells can be topped up
with distilled water.
The exterior of the battery should occasionally
be wiped clean, to remove any dirt or grease.
If a new battery is to be fitted, it must be the
same type as the original. The use of
unapproved batteries is not recommended and
could invalidate the vehicle warranty.
