204 4-2. Driving procedures
The position of the frame on the shift position indicator changes in
accordance with the current shift position.
When selecting a shift position, make sure that the shift position has
been changed to the desired position by checking the shift position
indicator provided on the instrument panel.
When a shift position other than D or B is selected, the arrow toward B
disappears from the shift position indicator.
Shift position purpose
Shift position Function
P Parking the vehicle or starting the hybrid system
R Reversing
N Neutral
D Normal driving*
B Applying moderate engine braking when driving
down hills or on steep slopes
*: To improve fuel efficiency and reduce noises, set the shift position in D for
normal driving.
