When Driving Automatic Transaxle Shift-Lock System Transaxle Ranges  The shift-lock system prevents shifting out The shift position indicator light in the of P unless the brake pedal is depressed. instrument cluster illuminates. P locks the transaxle and prevents the front NOTE wheels from rotating.  WARNING When the ignition is switched to ACC or the ignition is switched off, the selector Alw ays set the selector lever to P and set lever cannot be shifted from P. the parking brake:  The ignition cannot be switched to OFF O nly setting the selector lever to the if the selector lever is not in P. P position without using the parking Shift-Lock Override brake to hold the vehicle is dangerous. If P fails to hold, the vehicle could move If the selector lever will not move from P and cause an accident. using the proper shift procedure, continue to hold down the brake pedal. CAUTION 1.
