164 Refueling The position of the fuel filler cap is displayedVehicleswithadieselengine:thefillerneckis 8intheinstrumentcluster.Thearrownextdesigned for refueling at diesel filling pumps. tothefilling pumpindicatesthesideofthevehi- cle. Openingthefuelfiller flap (PLUG-IN Preparing to refuel HYBRIDvehicles) XSwitchoff the engine. parkingXRemovetheSmartKeyfromtheignitionlock. or, on vehicles with KEYLESS‑GO: XOpenthedriver's door. andThe on-board electronics now have status 0. ThisisthesameastheSmartKeyhavingbeen removed. DrivingThe driver’s door can be closed again. Openingthefuelfiller flap (except PLUG-INHYBRIDvehicles) XPull switch ;. Indicator lamp : flashes and the Please Wait Depressurizing Tank message appears in the multifunction display. If the fuel filler cap is unlocked, indicator lamp :lights up. The Tank is Depressurized Ready for Refueling message appears in the multi- function display. Please be sure to observe the information on refueling on the fuel filler flap. There is a malfunction if: :Toopenthefuelfillerflap Rindicator lamp : first flashes and then goes ;Toinsertthefuelfiller cap out =Instructionlabel for fuel type to be refueledRtheyellowengine diagnostics warning lamp ?Tirepressuretable lights up XPressthefuel filler flap in the direction ofiFromaspeedof1mph(2km/h),thefuel arrow :. filler flap can no longer be opened. The fuel filler flap swings up. iTheunlockingprocessforthefuelfiller cap XTurnthefuelfiller cap counterclockwise andmaytakeupto15minutes. remove it. XInsertthefuelfiller cap into the holder on the inside of the fuel filler flap. XCompletelyinsert the filler neck of the fuel pumpnozzleintothetank, hook in place and refuel. XOnlyfill the tank until the pump nozzle switches off. Donotaddanymorefuelafterthepumpstops filling for the first time. Otherwise, fuel may leak out.
