If one part isn’t working, the other part can still work and stop you. For good braking, though, you need both systems working well. If the warning light illuminates, there could be a problem. Have your brake system inspected right away. [IS02400(ALL)03/96] This light should illuminate as you start the vehicle. If it doesn’t illuminate then, have it fixed so it will be ready to warn you if there’s a problem. [IS02500(ALL)01/96] one inch art:0030319-E Brake system and parking brake light [IS02600(ALL)03/96] This light illuminates briefly when you turn the ignition key to START. It normally goes off shortly after the engine starts and you release the parking brake, but it may stay on for up to 60 seconds. If the light stays on for longer than 60 seconds or comes on after you have fully released the parking brake, have the hydraulic brake system serviced. 12
