Eliminate the possible cause which is preventing the unlocking and then repeat2ehicles with automatic transmission  the attempt to unlock the steering. 0he engine will not start if the brake pedal is not depressed. 0he warning light  lights up in the instrument cluster and the following mes- sage appears in the display. Switching on the ignition  Apply the brake to start. Start the engine after the warning light  has gone out.
