Para aumentar la distancia, pulse y suelte el botón de fijación de aumento de distancia. Cada vez que se pulsa el botón, la distancia aumenta una barra (más larga). Para disminuir la distancia, pulse y suelte el botón de fijación de reducción de distancia. Cada vez que se pulsa el botón, la distancia disminuye una barra (más corta). Si no hay ningún vehículo delante, el vehículo mantendrá la velocidad fijada. Si se detecta un Fijación de distancia de 4 barras (más larga)Fijación de distancia de 2 barras (intermedia)vehículo que se mueve más lentamente en el mismo carril, la DID mostrará el icono "Sensed Vehicle Indicator" (Indicador de vehículo detec- tado), y el sistema regulará automáticamente la velocidad del vehículo para mantener la fijación de distancia, independientemente de la veloci- dad fijada.
